In August 2024, Range Rover Canada embarked on a mission to elevate its brand presence through an exclusive, luxury lifestyle event centered around its iconic Range Rover Sport. Partnering with 7 Communications, the goal was to seamlessly blend the brand’s pillars of nautical inspiration and leadership into a carefully curated experience. Set against the stunning backdrop of Friday Harbour Resort, the event offered a unique blend of exclusive test drives, a VIP evening soirée, and a grand finale featuring an impressive drone and fireworks show. This meticulously designed activation was not only a celebration of luxury but also a showcase of Range Rover’s performance-driven ethos, leaving a lasting impression on key VIP guests and potential clients.

The objectives were to increase brand awareness, gather opt-ins for future communications, and offer immersive interactions with the Range Rover brand. With Labour Day weekend on the horizon, the team conceptualized the Après-Sail event, an experience that would capture the essence of a high-end post-sailing lifestyle. Set at Friday Harbour Resort, the venue provided the ideal mix of lakeside elegance and modern luxury, offering the perfect backdrop for this unique celebration.

The primary challenge was to craft an experience that not only highlighted the Range Rover Sport’s performance and luxury but also resonated deeply with its discerning audience. The Après-Sail event unfolded as an immersive journey that highlighted both the performance and luxury of the Range Rover Sport. The event took place in two distinct phases. During the day, Friday Harbour guests were invited to participate in exclusive test drives around the scenic routes of Innisfil, allowing them to experience the power and sophistication of the Range RoverSport firsthand. The test drive lounge and vehicle display, positioned at the resort’s bustling promenade, was designed to offer maximum visibility, drawing in guests while providing a serene yet luxurious atmosphere with curated refreshments and in-depth product knowledge.

As the evening unfolded, the event seamlessly transitioned into an elegant VIP cocktail soirée set against the serene backdrop of the water. The atmosphere was brought to life with captivating live performances, including a vibrant set by Toronto’s DJ Devo D and the soulful melodies of multi-instrumentalist Andrew Moljgun, creating an energy that perfectly complemented the sophisticated ambiance. One of the standout moments of the night was an intimate fashion showcase in partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue, where models mingled with guests, showcasing an exquisite selection of luxury fashion. Culinary indulgence was a key feature, with a carefully crafted menu of ocean-inspired dishes prepared by renowned seafood specialist Chef Matt Dean Pettit. Guests were treated to an immersive tasting experience that extended beyond the food, with custom-crafted, nautical-themed cocktails served at the Casamigos tequila bar.As the night reached its crescendo, the event’s nautical essence was spectacularly brought to life through a mesmerizing 600-drone show. The sky was illuminated with intricate formations of ocean waves, ship wheels, and finally,the iconic silhouette of the Range Rover, all culminating in a breathtaking fireworks finale that left guests in awe.

Results

This event not only achieved JLRC’s objectives but set a new standard for luxury brand activations. By weaving together elements of performance, lifestyle, and exclusivity, the event provided guests with an immersive experience that celebrated the spirit of Range Rover in a modern and dynamic way. The engagement level was impressive, with 55% of evening attendees opting in for future communications from JLRC, demonstrating the event’s success in fostering meaningful connections. Approximately 6,100 visitors were present at the Friday Harbour promenade throughout the day, significantly increasing Range Rover’s visibility beyond the invited guest list. The event’s impact was also reflected in the feedback from test drive participants, who provided a 74% Net Promoter Score (NPS), with 87% rating the overall experience as excellent.

The feedback from guests was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the attention to detail and the thoughtfully curated elements of the event. The drone show, in particular, stood out as a memorable highlight, being the largest drone show to ever hit Canadian skies. Overall, These results demonstrated the event's success in generating brand affinity, providing immersive experiences, and solidifying Range Rover’s position as a leader in luxury and performance.
